Who We Are..
Social Weavers is an up and coming multidisciplinary design studio, which is the ambitious undertaking of Sneha B Sachidananda, a seasoned architect with over 12years experience. After completing her Masters in Architecture from Glasgow University, she spent many years understanding the various architectural landscape in India.
Where we began....
After Honing her aesthetic sensibilities and developing an inclusive approach towards the craft, by working on projects of various scales and typologies under renowned architects like Prem Chandavarkar, Chengappa, Kukke Subramanya, Deepak Guggari, and Prashanth Pole for close to ten years, Sneha Started her own Practice in the year 2019 naming it "Social Weavers".
Sociable weaver is a species of bird endemic to southern Africa. They are known for building some of the largest community nests, which houses several generations. The nests are designed to accommodate multiple families, not just for oneself. The structure of these nests is spectacular and the ingenuity with which they are constructed, showing the understanding this species has about Climate, Structure, Sustainability, Aesthetics and yet Unique.
We believe that these traits exhibited by this unassuming bird make up the crux of what architecture, our practice, stands for. Hence, we proudly call ourselves ‘Social Weavers’.
Why the name ?
Studio
Our studio is constantly navigating the tempestuous waters of design. We push the boundaries of technology and art to create a synergy between structure and space. We believe in reimagining ‘the Urban’, by using various design tools to achieve a tranquil confluence between the built and the living.
What We Believe in.
Architecture can create better places, that can affect society, and that it can even have a role in making a place civilized by making a community more livable.
