The layout is divided into three distinct zones: public, semi-public, and private. The entrance, part of the public zone, features a front garden leading to an intricately crafted pooja wall. This wall, made from a marble slab supported by wooden members with brass inlays and a few cantilevered brass planter box, adds an elegant and artistic touch.

The living area opens to a private green court, enhancing natural light and ventilation.

The boundary safety grills, designed with perforated metal sheets and flats, act as a privacy buffer while offering clear views of the garden through internal glass panels.

The semi-public zone houses the dining area, which opens to another private green court with areca-nut trees and betel leaf creepers, reflecting traditional Indian dining customs. A central skylight illuminates the double-height dining space, where a lotus stone mural and grand chandeliers create a dramatic atmosphere.

On the first floor, the family area overlooks the dining space below, fostering a connection between the two levels. The kitchen and guest bedroom, located in the private zone, benefit from a rear setback that provides utility space and a private garden, ensuring light and ventilation.

The dining area is flanked by two double-height spaces: one a garden, and the other housing the main staircase. The staircase features a mid-landing made of glass bricks, allowing light to filter through and enhancing the space’s warmth and scale.

The master bedroom on the first floor is a tranquil retreat, divided into three zones: an open-to-sky landscaped internal court separating the sleeping and dressing areas, acts as a secluded space that offers a private connection to nature. Terracotta jalis enhance ventilation while adding a traditional architectural element.

The son’s room and family area open onto a large balcony overlooking the approach road and front garden, providing a buffer for the first-floor spaces. A bar unit in the family area, designed without a rear solid wall, allows natural light to filter through colorful bottles, adding vibrancy and drama to the space.

Throughout the house, a consistent V-shaped design motif is evident in elements like wood and glass railings, brass inlay work on doors, and safety grills, adding to the home’s unique blend of traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

These thoughtful design elements along with each space opening to a green court, all across the home enhances the overall experience of the home, making it a warm and inviting space for Mr. Venugopal and his family.
